Katharine Won the Gays, Maybe the Stars, Too

We don't know who got the most votes last night, but we do know who got the least: My Man Elliott. With 33.06 percent of the vote, he narrowly lost out to his competition, who clocked in at 33.26 percent and 33.68 percent. Fox won't say who got the highest.

Was I surprised at Elliott's defeat? Not really, and I'll tell you why. When I got home last night, I found my husband sitting in front of the TV watching Katharine doing Judy on TiVo.  Not just watching, he was adoring her. He was rewinding. He was smitten. In fact, I think he might have been crying.

I knew right then that Elliott and I were screwed. Katharine's Eva-Cassidy-ized version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' was a sucker punch (thrown by Simon) to grab just enough of the gay vote to give her the edge over Elliott.

It appears as if last night's events may also have been predestined. Check out what Tarot.com astrologer Jeff Fawer predicted for Kat: 'American Idol' Predictions 2006

It was a good show, the final three.  I wish all well but my sentiments for winning are with and for CATHARINE!

Alright, let's get real here.  Katherine did a cheezy carbon copy rendition of Jane Monheith's version of 'Rainbow'.  She's got a great musical theatre voice and will have one heck of a career on Broadway one day soon which is where she belongs.  Learning her craft.  She's not a pop idol!  Taylor has been workin' the boards for sometime now, and his stage presense reflects that.  As far as REAL voices go Elliot had the best for this competion and all past competions.  He has heart.  He has soul and he knows what it means to be gracious and gutsy.  A real class act as opposed to cry-baby Chris.

On a rainy day, no, a cold rainy day in the late weekend afternoon, who's CD you gonna play?  Elliot?  or Taylor or Kat?

My vote goes to the voice.  Elliot.

What say you?

If they really want to reach out, someone should cover a song by Jayne County, who used to be Wayne County; a cover version of "Man Enough To Be A Woman" or "Bad in Bed" would stretch the envelope in the right, and most groovy, direction.
