British Military Recruiting Gays

Britain's Royal Air Force is looking for a few good gays
. Yes, not only do our British counterparts allow gays to serve, they're now launching a major advertising campaign to recruit gay men and lesbians to their ranks. And if those people have partners, they can bring them along to live on base in married servicemembers' quarters.

Meanwhile, at least one former high-ranking U.S. military man is speaking out about this country's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy barring openly-gay servicemembers in the U.S. military. Former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff John M. Shalikashvili wrote in a New York Times op-ed yesterday that while he still believes Don't Ask was appropriate when it was established in 1993, he now thinks we're in a new era of acceptance where gays and straights could serve side-by-side:

"Last year I held a number of meetings with gay soldiers and marines, including some with combat experience in Iraq, and an openly gay senior sailor who was serving effectively as a member of a nuclear submarine crew. These conversations showed me just how much the military has changed, and that gays and lesbians can be accepted by their peers." (Read the whole op-ed here.)

Democrats plan to re-introduce a bill
this year to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

to me if a man can do a job it shouldn"t have any means if he is gay or a straight person man or woman.

Why do gays and lesbians have to tell the world about their sexual preferences just go serve in the military  and keep your mouths shut.   Heterosexuals do not run around trying to get acknowledgement that they are straight. Gays and lesbians get carried away asking for attention and most of all sympathy for their pathetic situation.

I knew those paramilitary pants were a smart purchase.

Gays always seem to be welcome DURING War and they usually are sent to the front lines. These brave young men and women are sacrificing their lives for another Republican's mistake and are welcome fodder

Yeah we should send all the gays and feminists to the front line. Right up front and center.

Wow... it sure is amazing how closed minded some people are! I think it's a great thing that the British Military are doing because EVERYONE deserves equal treatment! If a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender want to serve their country, then they should be allowed just that! And if you went through life with your leaders saying who you are attracted to means you can't be a servicemen/woman, you may just understand how wonderful it is for LGBT people to not only allowed you to serve, but also recognize your love as you lover and allow them to accompany you on your tour. It's about time ol' Bushy do just the same for our country (haha... yeah right!) And just everyone knows... we don't want any kind of 'attention' for our 'pathetic situation' we just want to be acknowledged as people equal to heterosexuals! You can't chose who you love, but you can chose how you treat people who live differently than you! God Bless!

I was in the miltary and it is very lonely for gays there .But there is a new army or miltary that really understands. The gay or lesbian are people to the straight person is just not happy that they have to be closed minded and be bitter on this point . It is the person who speakes up about the policy who cann't talk about anything else.So to me and a unit that i spoke to about this they say let who ever join the ranks and live there sexal comments to there self you just never know you best friend my be gay or lesbian. And you my have to depend on them saving you life. What we all do for sex is our life. But it is ok for a stright person to talk about there sex and we cann't............not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
