Blogger/reporter Greg Hernandez penned an article for the L.A. Daily News about the new showbiz environment in which more gays are out in Hollywood. To put recent events in context, he writes:
Rock Hudson nearly went to his grave while still in the closet. Richard Chamberlain and Tab Hunter waited until they were nearly 70 to tiptoe out. But recently, the hinges of Hollywood's closet door have been oiled with three high-profile performers coming out as gay men and several lesbians currently enjoying mainstream success on television.
Hernandez talks to industry insiders as well as gay/lesbian actors (and some straight who play gay) for a 'An In-Depth Look at Being Out in Hollywood.'

I'm happy these entertainers are finally comfortable enough to come out of the closet. I have gays in my family and it really hurts me to see the ignorance and prejudice some people display towards gays.
