"New Jersey's Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that same-sex couples are entitled to the same rights as heterosexual couples.
But the court left it to the legislature to determine whether the state will honor gay marriage or some other form of civil union.
The case was brought by seven gay couples who say the state constitution allows them to marry." Read the rest of the story here.
With the implications of how New Jersey will implement this decision still up in the air -- i.e., this ruling doesn't mean gays can necessarily marry -- I'm sure we will be dissecting and discussing the issues over the next days and weeks.
Here's my query: Will the timing of this decision affect the decidedly favorable outlook for Democrats to win House and Senate seats two weeks from now?

I agree, we as a community will have some dissent within our ranks. Starting with me! I 've been out since 1974 with my family and friends. I believe in God, Christ & the Holy Spirit. According to my Faith, marriage is between a man & a woman. I respect that it is written in the Bible that way, and have no problem with calling my "Holy Union" - with my wife of 15 years - just that, as long as we have the same legal rights as our hetero counterparts. I will continue to lobby my state representatives to vote for Same Sex Marriage, but have no problem with calling it anything else. Thanks for listening.
I believe homosexual sex and lust are a choice, much like beastiality and pedophilia. I have no desire to police bedrooms but do not wish to elevate perversion to an equal status with normal behavior.

To tomh1839: The notion of "mutually consenting adults" has escaped you, hasn't it? Animals and children can't give adult consent. These are forms of rape. I think the idea of not policing bedrooms is an excellent one.

I believe that we are all Gods children... some point in our lives we all must encounter something about someone we don't like,and in turn that makes they differant,and unacceptable.Because we have differant lables for differant people,like cracker,honkey,jig,jew,spick,illegal alein,terriosts,whites,blacks,caucasion,afro-american,gay,straight,bi....... we are all of the same homo sapian.It's easier to put a blame on someone or something that isn't "natural",its always easier to say something is so disgusting to see 2 men or 2 women holding hands,or showing affection....this is life people,it will continue to go on whether you"the normal"see it,or the so called christians,who are not to judge one another,but to turn the cheek.Don't preach about others that are differant... cause your views are not the same as others.If you are not happy living around people that are differant,then perhaps you need to add your name to the list for MARS... cause everyone has a choice in thier lifestyles,and the way they choose to live.
