Streisand on Tour: Sounds Good, Hates Bush and She's Still a Diva

Barbra Streisand received what might be called a glowing review on opening night of her concert tour in Phildelphia last evening.

Based on what Philadelphia Inquirer music critic David Patrick Stearns observed, it sounds like Streisand has loosened up since I last saw her on stage in 1994: "[She] has rarely generated such warmth and openness. She poked fun at her immoderate eating habits with a litany of area restaurants she had patronized, and admitted that the invention of teleprompters allowed her to return to the concert stage."

Streisand used her platform to get a few jabs in to archnemesis George W. Bush, performing 'Happy Days are Here Again' with a Bush look-alike who amused (scared?) the crowd with lines like, "I'm concerned about the national debt, so I'm selling Canada," and "If I cared about the polls I would have run for president of Poland."

I wonder if anyone paid $50,000 to meet her backstage after the show? That is the cost of getting an audience with the diva I adore, according to an email I received this week:

"A very small number of people per city will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet with Ms. Streisand following each concert.

You and three guests will have exclusive access to Ms. Streisand, along with a group photograph opportunity and will receive 4 autographed souvenir items. Should you not have concert tickets, we will be happy to arrange those as well.

The price for this opportunity is $50,000 USD and proceeds will go to charity in support of The Streisand Foundation.

This opportunity is not offered for general sale and is open only to select individuals."

I thought it might be a hoax, but apparently it's not.

It just proves she *is* a diva -- and a 'Funny Lady'!  God love her.

And if you want to meet Barbra Streisand *and* James Brolin? We're talking at least $52,500.

I THINK ITS TIME FOR UGLY BIG NOSE TO GETOFF HER HIGH HORSE AND GO INTO SECLUSION. WHAT MAKES HER THINK THAT EVERYONE JUST WAITS TO HEAR WHAT SHE HAS TO SAY. THE OLDER SHE GETS THE MORE EVIL SHE BECOMES.

ANYONE WHO LOVES BILL CLINTON HAS GOT TO HAVE THIER HEAD UP THIER YOU KNOW WHAT.

I don't give a rat's rump about her political views. As she doesn't give a rat's rump about mine. These stars are so out of touch. All they associate with is the snob class. They live in mansions, have nothing but the very best, and then feel that they can tell the working class what's right or wrong. They are getting paid to entertain, not stand on a soap box. While I love her singing, this politial throw in, turns me off. They all feel that they can use their talents to insult the President of the United States on stage, television, etc.  What must other countries think of us? What a disgrace.

Barbara  Just sing and shut up.  Who cares about your political views.

I'll tell you exactly what other countries think of us, I travel internationally as an entertainer, (vocalist). They think we are bullies,  mad with power. Entertainers who travel are quite well informed about world affairs thank you. Instead of being Monday Morning Quarterbacks shouting "kick their ass!", we are out IN the world experiencing current affairs, not "up in our mansions" as you may think.

I think she is out of touch with the world.  It is obvious that she is a very hateful person, especially after her last outburst at her concert.  She told a paying guest to "Shut the **** up.  The woman is an evil "slease bag" and has absolutely no class what so ever.
