The phenomenon that is 'Dreamgirls'
continues to build. The movie opened wide on
Friday playing in 1900
theaters and stayed on the list of top five films for the
weekend.
As winner of three Golden
Globes last
night -- including a Best Supporting Actress award for Jennifer Hudson -- the
movie that every gay man I know wants to "see again" looks like it will continue
to have legs at the box office for a while.

and wigs and divas, Jake Gyllenhaal thrilled 'SNL' audiences this weekend in a
drag performance as Effie belting out 'And I Am Not Telling You' -- to
an eager audience of gay cowboys. Does he pull it off? You tell
me.

this young man who, like Jake, sings with his own voice. The artist is Von
Smith, the event is an opening for a performing arts venue in Kansas City. He's
in, um, slightly better voice than Jake (Smith is reminiscent of Sam Harris),
although I think Jake has bigger biceps.

Jake did a great job hosting SNL, which probably isn't the easiest thing to do. He even seemed more at ease (and funnier) than many of the cast members.
He's no WonderRobbie, but he's not at all bad for a straight boy. And the biceps...well....the tone is pitch perfect.
I love a man in a dress. Jake looks really hot in his too. Drag is so underrated in pop culture IMHO. Good for him. Gives me courage to go on as Carol Channing.
Yes!! Jake DID LOOK HOT didn't he? He's a great YOUNG entertainer, too!! Guys in drag are hot!!! David Bowie is MY PERSONAL FAVORITE though-He gets my vote for FAVORITE SEXY ARTIST from the 1970's era!!! Jake is a sexy modern day artist-he's a great young actor, as well.
Von Smith's voice is very good, but I don't believe him -- unlike Jake. Jake's performance was soulfully fantastic!

Is it just me or does everyone who does, And I Am Telling You seem to have to make the Jennifer Holiday faces? They don't sound like her and in Jennifer Hudson's rendition she certainly makes it her own and yet you can feel her almost bursting to contort her face like Ms. Holiday. Scott, have you tried to sing that song? That's not a Jennifer Holliday face, that's pain! It hurts to wrap your mouth around those notes. And if you check out Jennifer singing it on PBS's "The Leading Ladies of Broadway" (1998/9) she can do it without even trying. Her face doesn't even move at all, and those sounds just fly right out of her mouth. (She also looks like a drag queen in this performance with her wig and TV makeup) It's fabulous.
Seeing Jake in that dress on Saturday made my Saturday night, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and keeps on making me laugh today. I couldn't stop telling people about it.
Von Smith should have tried out for American Idol. He is really good.
Jake looks FANTASTIC! Wow. Check out those delts! I have to admit though I've never cared for that song.
