Doogie Sets the Record ... Gay

Neil Patrick Harris came out as a proud gay man on Friday.

Why? Ugly rumors.

People were calling him "straight."

I think we're making progress.

I wish him well. I really don't understand why he has to tell anyone about his private life. I enjoyed his show and wondered then, but didn't care. I can't imagine that he would want anyone to think of him other than he is a person; his revelation is just another dimensiion. East coast fan!

He didn't come out "proud", he was bullied by someone who, if they were comfortable about their own lifestyle just wouldn't worry about anyone elses.  Only people who are not confident in themselves have to force their position on others.  Peoples sexuality belongs in their personal life, unless they are directly hurting another and "big brother" does not need to be in everybody's business.  Gossiping and gossipers are soul vampires and only destructive.  Live your own life and let other's live theirs as they see fit.

I knew he was gay since he was a kid on Doogie Houser. He always gave me that vibe. Also when he played Jack McFarland's love interest on Will & Grace, on the "Welcome Back Homo" episode, that was a dead giveaway. This isn't news to me. It just pisses me off that these people wait until the right time to further their careers by announcing their state of sexuality. It's all about publicity, isn't it? Who's next? Sean Hayes? As if we didn't know already, but hey, go for it!

A person's sexual orientation is no one else's business. No one should be pressured into disclosing something as personal as sexuality. A person certainly shouldn't be involuntarily outed. It's no more of public value than to broadcast someone's address or phone number. It's an invasion of privacy to attack someone's most personal information this way. The "public" does not have a "right" to know anything about celebrities that the celebrities themselves don't want to divulge. Those of you who feel compelled to "out" others are seriously misguided and borders on stalking.

I enjoy watching NPH and it never really crossed my mind if he was gay or straight.  It doesn't matter to me, I just think he's hilarious in that role.  I don't really understand why certain people think we all need to know if someone is gay or straight.  Evidently, Neil didn't feel the need to make this known before now (and only now because of internet pressure) and was living his life the way he wanted.  It will be a terrible world when anyone with any notoriaty at all will have to "label" themselves as gay or straight just because "inquiring (nosy) minds thinks they should know".

I knew he was gay when he was Doogie Howser.  When I saw the headline that another actor has come out of the closet, my first reaction was "I bet its that Doogie Howser guy!".

Regardless, he didn't have to come out if he didn't want to, its no one's business.

i just don't understand why gay people should be pressured into 'declaring' their sexual preference.  why is it anyone's business?  heteros aren't expected to 'declare' their straightness.  and if there are rumors and they try to quell them, then people are even more sure they're gay and just in denial!  why should it even matter at all?  if someone's a good actor, singer, whatever, their private life should make no difference whatsoever, and it shouldn't even come into question.

Seems that AOL is the right hand of the homosexual publicity.
Thanks AMERICA ONLINE, for helping in the sabotage of life as we knew it. Where would the homos go without your encouragement and support?

p.s.  whether someone is gay or straight doesn't affect how much they appeal to me.  i think neil patrick is just as sexy now as i did before he came out!
