Study: Why Older Brothers and a Mother's Womb Can Make Men Gay
If Mike Brady and his first wife had had another son, science says there's a darn good chance he might have been gay. Think of the hijinks of Greg, Peter, Bobby and Bruce. Now that's a very Brady sequel I'd like to see.
A new study out documents that boys who have several older brothers are more likely to be gay, adding further evidence that biology is a determining factor in homosexuality.
This makes a lot of sense if you look at the large number of gay Mormons and Catholics. People of these two faiths tend to have large families. And while religion isn't addressed in the study, I know just from my own anecdotal observation that the younger guys of these large broods very often do turn out to be gay.
Note that just being raised with brothers isn't the cause of the big brother effect. It's actually something that happens in the womb. Younger brothers who didn't grow up with their older brothers were still more likely to be gay, and younger brothers who grew up with older non-biological brothers were not. Nature trumps nurture once again.
The study says that "the [big brother] effect is probably the result of a 'maternal memory,'" meaning the mother's womb actually remembers that it's already produced X number of boys, and somehow signals the body in a way that "provides a prenatal environment that fosters homosexuality in her younger sons."
If TV writers had known this all along, can you imagine how much more fun 'Bonanza,' 'The Waltons' and 'My Three Sons' could have been?

The very idea of the story line in my three sons of the youngest is crazy. For one thing it would have to have been Chip. Eran was not Steves. If anyone watched that show and thinks he did they should get the very firstones and see. As for the Cartrights well the same thing goes Little Joe had a differnt mother or was it all three that did. Now for the Waltons Back when this show aired the gay people had no rights no voice Also in that time of the Waltons Gayness was thought of as a sickness and that son would have been put in the seller of some place where family and friends would not see them like there did with girls that got knoked up out of marrage. As for The Brady Bunch well it could have made Bobby gay who is to say that Mikes first didn't have a miss-carrage with a boy or two? You also would have a very good story line for the Partridge family Danny or Chris the second boy who played Chris would have made a nice one. Whoes to say that that child star isn't one to day?
If this is true, it certainly makes sense from a biological point of view. It could be a natural built-in curb on population growth rate. Mother Nature can't stop people from having kids, but maybe she can stop them from having kids who are going to make more themselves.

Thats the biggest bunch of bullonie i've ever heard! Families with alot of children have a higher risk of turning out gay just by sheer odds...if there 1000 times more red cars on the road guess what? there will be 1000 times more wrecks involving red cars.

Not sure about this study, but I have done my own and find that it does appear to be biological. In my family 3 out of 5 children are gay (myself, my brother and 1 sister, my other 2 sisters are not). I have asked every other gay individual I have met in the last 12 years and find much more often than not, that many have gay siblings. I know of a family with 3 out of 3 children being gay, and many others with more than 1 gay person in the family. Another thing to consider, for those that think being gay might be, or is, a choice, did you make the choice when you hit puberty and found yourself attracted to the opposite sex? The only thing many gays choose is to ignore their feelings and live a lie to please an unaccepting society. In my opinion no one has control over sexuality. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not speaking from personal experience or knowledge, or they themselves are living a lie.

I read this theory before. If there are no "older brothers" it means nothing because it includes the occurrences of miscarriages, stillborns, or a pregnancy that lasts even a month. If the mother was pregnant with boys, that is it - and later on a pregnancy can still produce a gay male. What is the big deal? So much negative energy directed as gays and anyone else who is different. It's like all these houses of worship in Abrahamic religions say "How DARE you question anything?". It's all about guilt, hell, God's Will, and so on. You never met God, except for what you hear in your houses of worship. Look up Spirituality, Ethics, etc. and that is what it's about. Creating value in your life and the lives of those around you. No one becomes gay or a lesbian. And it doesn't matter if they feel that way, as long as the lifestyle is not imposed on anyone. Pedophila - look at those priests - they bothered young girls as well as boys. Humans are humans, mind your own business, make yourself and people happy, and if you suffer from homophobia, get help for it. You have no right to deny another's existence. That in itself is a big sin.
I think being homosexual is a choice. Biologically, we are programmed to spread our genes by procreating which two males and two females are incapable of. It's not that I think homosexuality is wrong, but it's just not biological.
